Not my cup of tea, but maybe he is reaching some who are not touched by the Gospel in more conventional ways.

It's very possible he is doing that wisely. The crowd that normally flocks to that music often are in a great need for conversion.

This is surely one of the weirdest things I have ever
seen. More than that, I will not say.

I think he is cool! I would love to have a Trappist Ale with him some time. One of my favorite songs is ONE by Metallica.

Hmmm... Maybe if he got together with the "Free Monks" (http://www.homelands.org/worlds/freemonks.html) in Greece...

Maybe releasing a joint album could kick start some ecumenical punk-metal sort of thing?

Maybe?

In Chicagoland is a Catholic priest who is quite the serious jazz guitarist. His name is John Moulder. I've seen him play. He is very good.

Well, if people are coming to Christ via "weird" music, i don't see any problems. Unconventional yes, but also a wise move. There are Orthodox priests who are musicians by the way. Whether they are in the vein of Bob Seger or Dan Fogelberg, I have no idea.

PS: There is a Franciscan priest who's a rapper-bassist. Stan Fortuna's the name.

Very nice music, thanks for the link... I had heard about 'free monks' but had never actually heard any of their music.

The studio version is better to listen to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMquGj3aMWE

The lyrics aside, this is my favorite Metallica song.
