For those of you who are looking for a way to listen to the daily readings and participate in the corporate prayer of the Church, I HIGHLY recommend a new podcast sponsored by St. Luke Byzantine Catholic Church (Sugar Creek, MO) and the Byzantine Catholic Prayer Mission of St. Lawrence (Lawrence, KS).

It is entitled: Byzantine Catholic Word

You can easily find it by searching under podcasts in your Itunes.

It is professionally produced and a real benefit to those of us who have to commute distances to work. I have listened to every day for the past week and my own spiritual life has been greatly enhanced.

I recommend it to everyone and want to publicly thank Fr. Stephen and Deacon Nicholas for being supportive of the project and most of all Brian Biggerstaff for devoting his time and talents to the project.

Fr John Mack

Dear Friends,

I just thought I would take the time to give you an update of some changes in regard to the Podcast. Due to a recent technical issue I have changed the name of the podcast and given it a new URL for the subscription address. The new name is called ‘Byzantine Catholic Prayer and Daily Scripture Readings”. You can now find it listed in the iTunes directory of podcasts.
I apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused anyone, especially those who may have had their prayer life disrupted in any way.

Aside from the technical difficulties this has been a wonderful learning experience for me and it has made me think more about what this project is about and where it is heading in the future. In the beginning I thought if I could bring one person closer to Christ, just one person, God will be happy with that and I can consider this podcast a success. A month and a half after publishing this program, we now have a listen rage of about 180 people with approximately 100 downloads each day. The results have far exceeded what I expected.

Given that we have chosen the structure of Byzantine Catholic prayer as a theme for this episodic program and the growing popularity, I want to invite everyone listening to submit prayer intentions to be included in future podcasts. This can easily be done on the website that I mentioned earlier.

I also want to publically thank Fr. John Mack for his counsel and encouragement on this project. I am certain this program would not enjoy the success that has without him. Further, I must say if you want to see an awesome Liturgy and hear the best Homily you ever heard in your life, check out the Vigil Liturgy, with Fr. John as the Celebrant, at our Mission in Lawrence KS every Saturday at 6:00pm.

The new URL to subscribe via iTunes is:

http://biggerstaffbrn.hipcast.com/rss/byzantine-prayer.xml

Again the new web site address is:

http://stlukesbyzantine.blogspot.com/

Your humble servant in IC XC,
Brian

CONSTANTINUS...SORRY FOR THE DELAY IN RESPONDING. GOOD TO KNOW YOU ARE A MEMBER OF ST. LUKE'S. DOES THIS CHURCH STILL HAVE THE LITURGY AS IT WAS SEVERAL YEARS AGO (IT SEEMS)?

Hey Allen,

Yeah! Divine Liturgy starts at 9:30am every Sunday morning. Were you planning to attend? I would like to meet you and get some feedback from you in regard to the podcast project.
