Philippe Gebara Member Registered: 05/14/06 Posts: 804 Loc: Rio de Janeiro/ RJ - Brazil	I'm reading "An Abundance of Love" from the Archbishop Joseph Raya (which I've been appreciating very much, by the way) and I was shocked by some affirmations the Bishop did about Plato's theory. He says that according to the philosopher the human souls existed in "God" before their incarnation and they were sent by that same God to the earth as a punishment. But Plato doesn't talk about God!

Terry Bohannon Member Registered: 05/15/07 Posts: 2232 Loc: Houston, TX USA	Fr. Serge, It has been about five years since I read the work, but I read it along with Timaeus. The latter work would be the one I recalled. The "God", as the unmoved mover type, is spoken of by secondary sources. Plato spoke directly of the orchestrative work of a demiurge, who brought order from chaos and separated matter and souls into individual lots. I look forward to reading "An Abundance of Love, but I won't expect to know Plato better by the read. I would be happy to come to a better understanding of the Incarnation, the greatest of miracles, however. Terry
