So who will be attending the 9:00 AM Sunday Church Slavonic liturgy at this year's Mt. Macrina Otpust?

Chtec, since you are living in the 'burgh now, will you be attending the Church Slavonic liturgy?

I guess I'll have to get my soon-to-be 92 old father up at 6:00 AM in order to drive him to Mt. Macrina for the 9:00 AM Sunday Sluzhba Bozha. mad

Is it just me, or are there others who feel that this 9:00 AM
scheduling of the Church Slavonic Divine Liturgy is a deliberate attempt to keep the attendance low? To me, it shows a lack of respect for the few remaining elderly pilgrims who would just love to hear a entire Divine Liturgy in a liturgical language that they know and love.

Attendance seemed to be down last year, compared to the year before.

I can neither confirm nor deny my possible presence at said Liturgy. wink

(Sadly, I probably will not be there for the Slavonic Liturgy, but I do hope to make a visit at some point during the otpust.)

As much as I'd like to hear the Slavonic Liturgy, I won't make it this year. I went to Toronto for the Ukrainian festival last year and I am going to Toronto for Labor Day weekend again, it was a lot of fun. I'll make the Saturday evening (Vespers) and Sunday visit to St. Elias, it is truly an amazing place. The Ukie festival is a few weeks later this year, might go up for that too, if I do I'll hit St. Elias again smile

If you can manage several trips to Toronto, one should definitely include the CARAVAN festival - it's worth it just for the food! And there is lots more. I know a church in the USA, a good drive to Toronto, which always sends someone to Toronto to purchase goods in quantity for their own bazaar.

Did you print out your copy of the Rusyns'koho-Stara Slavans'koho Odpustovyj Spivannik-Molitvennik yet?
