Dear All:

would it not be good to have sustained prayer for the glorification among the Saints of Metropolitan Joseph (Raya) of most holy memory?

Fr. Serge (Saidna's most unworthy spiritual son)

OH YES! I am always asking him for help. I am so glad to see this. Our parish was blessed to have him as a young pastor for 27 years. Though we were late comers we were still blessed many, many times to sit under his teaching. All I can say is it is indescribable. His mother had him Baptised on the day he was born, he said he learned of Jesus in the womb, because she always sang to our Lord. Sitting under his teaching - well - it must have been something like sitting under that of one of the Early Church Fathers.

Sorry, I know, no rambling.

Holy Father, raise up for us many men like Saiedna Raya, through the prayers of this awesome man of God, may we see healing among your people. Especially for our clergy, our priests. Through his intercession raise of mighty men of God not afraid to confront the ills of todays world, speak the truth, and walk boldly before you Jesus. Thank you Jesus for the life of this man of God. May we in our day, see many children sprout forth by his toutalege from heaven. Let it be so Jesus, let it be so, restore unto us the years that the locust have eaten, by the power of Saiedna Raya's intercession at the Throne of God, Throne of Grace. Amen.

He was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize a few years back.
Lord let your glory so shine before men, that he could be nominated again. Jesus he is truly a man for these hurting times, one who so beautifully understood the Middle East and the West, raise men up Lord through his mighty intercession. Glory to God!

Reminds me of two bible verses: Jeremiah 1:5 and Luke 10:38 - 42. I hope that he will be canonised a saint. The things that I have read about him are just amazing. If only I could write like him... grrrr.

Colliin the thing is, if you have heard him talk much, as you read his works, you hear him reading it to you. It is amazing how many people at church experience that. You hear his voice in your head as though he is sitting right there reading it to you.

Interesting, Pani Rose!

Does someone has a recording of the Archbishop Raya speaking?

I would assume that Madonna House made tape-recordings of some of Metropolitan Joseph's sermons and talks. It would be well to ask them to make some of these available.

Archbishop Joseph, memory eternal, was indeed a very spiritual and inspiring speaker, as well as a wonderfully interesting and incredibly humorous conversationalist.

Madonna House has just recently acquired a state-of-the art digital audio system and is now offering audio remakes of some talks by Catherine Doherty and audio-book editions of some of their more popular texts on CD. Presently, the available audio-books are all ones by either Catherine or Father Eddie Doherty, but it might be a particularly opportune time to suggest this to them.

Many years,

Neil

That is probably most unfortunate. I only came to know of the East shortly after Archbishop Joseph passed on to eternal glory and it was only after I got introduced to the East, that I came across Archbishop Joseph's legacy.

I would love to buy his books but as they're either out of print or very expensive, what's a student to do?

Collin,

if you try the Theological Book Service (www.theobooks.org), you can find "The Face of God" for US$14. I've bought from them a couple of times, and they are more than helpful.

Madonna House has many of his other works (cf. http://www.madonnahouse.org/publications/raya/index.html), and they're all offered very cheaply (US$7 - US$20).

I think that Byzantine Daily Worship is currently in print. The Byzantine Missal definitely is not - I've often been tempted to do something about it.

Father,
I for one would be interested in having a copy of such if you , or any one else, does do something about it.
Much Love,
Jonn
