I sit here, shaking my head at the thought that a pastor can be so oblivious to the consequences as to suggest to a parishioner that he can't or won't perform a planned marriage or else find another priest to do so, solely because it no longer fits neatly into a schedule.
My prayers for Rachel and Will, and for their families - especially my dear friend Bob and his wife Loretta - that this stress be lifted from them and the plans of these young people to unite in the Mystery of Matrimony be fulfilled.

My prayers go to the betrothed that their marriage will be celebrated as scheduled and start a blessed life together!
I feel certain that a priest will be made available by the parish on this unforgettable occasion.
Who knows, the re-assigned priest might be free and be willing to return just for one day to celebrate the sacrament of marriage of your daugther and her intended. Or, you may have a priest-friend who can assume the responsibility of performing the ceremony.

Thanks be to God for His many blessings and great mercy.
Rachel and Will were married Saturday at 2 p.m. with a large church full of family and friends. Everyone commented about the ceremony. Loretta sang the Responorial Psalm and Allelulia--something people said they'd never seen before. (As you may recall, my wife and her family are very gifted musicians and singers.) I read the portion of the Epistle
"If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love . . ."
at Rachel's request. I wrote the General Intercessions for them and one of Loretta's sisters read them. The pastor of the parish remarked about all our efforts.
The reception was a great success and all the guests remarked about what a wonderful time they had.
The best part is that each and every person traveled home safely and in peace.
Thanks again to the Lord for His Great and Rich Mercy, His constant Providential Hand in our lives, His blessing on this new family being formed, and for all the blessings He has showered on our family.
In Christ,
BOB
