Today, on the feast of the Circumcision and Naming of OLGS Jesus Christ and the feast of St Basil the Great, a glorification of a New Hieromartyr took place in Samara, Russia.
The Holy New Hieromartyr Basil Vitebsky was glorified at the Cathedral of Sts. Peter and Paul in Samara.
Glorification services were led by Archbishop Sergius of Samara who blessed all in attendance with the icon of St Basil Vitebsky.
(Mention is made of another New Marytyr, Saint Constantine Suchov and others of Samara).
The Eparchy of Samara is working to have its entire choir of Saints glorified - fifteen in all, and headed by St Alexius the Metropolitan who was from Samara and is its chief patron Saint.
It is hoped that this formal glorification will take place in May of this year.
Holy New Hieromartyr Basil and all Saints of Samara, pray unto God for us!
