Hello, I believe this is appropriate for this forum. I read Raymond Flynn's open letter to Sen. John Kerry which appeared in today's (Sunday, 10 October 2004, p. 37 of the National section) New York Times. Here's a link to the letter: An Open Letter to John Kerry . Irenaeus

So, our Constitution guarantees a right to privacy, but not a right to life. Perhaps the Constitution needs to be changed....
Kerry would do well to acquaint himself with the factual, scientific evidence which supports the religious belief that he claims to hold (but which he is loathe to "impose" on others), such as found in the following statement:
"The American College of Pediatricians concurs with the body of scientific evidence that human life begins at conception—fertilization. This definition has been expounded since prior to Roe v. Wade, but was not made available to the US Supreme Court in 1973. Scientific and medical discoveries over the past three decades have only verified and solidified this age-old truth. At the completion of the process of fertilization, the human creature emerges as a whole, genetically distinct, individuated zygotic living human organism, a member of the species homo sapiens, needing only the proper environment in order to grow and develop. The difference between the individual in its adult stage and in its zygotic stage is not one of personhood but of development."
