XB!

Are any of you folks going to be in Chicago next week for the Chierothonia of the new bishop? I am going with my father and some friends.

I asked if V and O's would have vespers served for the feast of the Ascension of Our Lord on wednesday evening and my father laughed at me. So does anyone want to come to All-Night Vigil at the OCA cathedral? I know the choir director there and I have heard nice things abould bishop Job. I can promise you that it will be way better than the banquet.

Dear Ilya,

As I once attended Vespers for the Ascension at "V & O's", I surmise your Reverend Father-Daddy laughed because of something you might have been wearing at the time of your conversation, or something else! smile

Dear Ilya,

I'm a simple Greek Catholic and don't know the difference between right and wrong, after all . . .

Ilya,

I'm sure that the Vigil for the Feast of the Ascension at the OCA parish would be wonderful but why would you not wish to gather with your own Ukrainian Catholic Church as you celebrate the enthronment of a new bishop? Even if you eventually choose not to be part of that Church you should join your father for the celebration if you are invited and choose to participate.

BTW, your avatar is much too large. Can you please make it smaller?

Oh no I will be at the liturgy and am lookinf forward to it. It's just that I would just rather go to Vigil instead of a banquet. After all where is the real banquet?

We will be in Chicago for the chierotonia, hmmmm, sounds interesting...you might have a taker. That's the OCA church just north of the Ukrainian Orthodox cathedral by the hospital, right?

Holy Trinity Cathedral.

Our Father Alexander Toth served liturgy there sometimes. I like the OCA, it is truly a cool church (at least here in Canada)

I have heard good things about the OCA situation in Canada. However here in California they tend to be cranky and archconservative.

I much prefer the company of the ROCOR.

I do hope to come visit your excellent parish soon.

That's the OCA church I was thinking about, right next door to St. Mary of Nazareth RC hospital. We've been there a couple of times for Saturday night Vespers. We'll have a car. Illya, is the Vigil at 5:30? 6:00? Do you know?

According to their Website, Vigil of major feasts is usually served at 7:00 pm.

Dear Ilya,

"Our Father Alexis Toth?"

So do you share this saint's view that Greek Catholics can be "jerks?" wink

Thanks, Adam, you are correct. I checked the link posted above and it does indicate 7 pm for great feasts.

I believe Father Alexis' problem was not so much with Greek Catholics but rather with that loser bishop John Ireland (I think thats his name, I could be wrong). I sympathize with Saint Alexis and am sad about what had to happen, but it did have to happen. I would have done the same thing(maybe I will...if there is a good enough reason).
