By their fruits you shall know them.

If they deny the fundamentals of the Christian faith then it is obvious they are no longer Christian.
Attendance just to go is not allowed. there has to be some extenuating reason that is a funeral or wedding.

My friends:

Anyone who takes David Virtue's writing seriously needs to know that he has been proven wrong and has even twisted the truth on more than one occasion.

I''ve been a priest in the ECUSA (now known as TEC) for over 22 years and since that time, the Ft. Worth Diocese has refused to ordain women, has not allowed their congregations to pray for our Presiding Bishop in the prayers of the people....and by the way, her title is not Mrs. is the Most Reverend Kathryn or the Presiding bishop.

Just want to set the record straight.

God's peac be with you!

Father--I can think of one very prominent non-Texan Episcopal parish that doesn't name her in the bidding prayers either. And they webcast their services.

When the Order of Deaconesses "stood down" in the Episcopal church, they turned over all their property and money to TEC. That action began the process for ordaining women to the diaconate...and once the door was open to the diaconate the next thing was to happen was the ordination of women to the presbyterate. (There really was no canonical reason for them not to be ordained). And then, of course, the thought was that if they could be ordained deacon, then presbyter, then why not the ordoer of bishops.

I have trained many women deacons straight out of seminary over the past 22 years and with the exception of one (who had emotional problems) I would have put them in positions of leadership where they were badly needed (especially those places being pastored by ill preapred, non pastoral presbyters.

Not trying to start an argument here; just giving some facts.

Father--

I was not referring to the Creed but to your statement about the diocese of Ft. Worth not praying for the presiding bishop during the bidding prayers. The parish that I was referring to is not in MS but in NY. They do not pray for her by her office or her name, but simply pray "for our (diocesan) bishop" and he is not even mentioned by name. They webcast their main Sunday Eucharist and Evensong, as well as weekday Evensongs. They seem to be an island all to themselves, and yet remain part of TEC.

Thank you for your comments. I live in canada and I find that the accusations made also do not apply to the Anglican Church of Canada.
Also it is disrespectable to refer to a hierarch of another church in derogatory terms (i.e. mrs) and it does nto help the discussion.

Christ is in our midst!! He is and always will be!!

With all due respect to Father Mike and any of our Anglican brethren here, I am clsoing this thread because it has taken an uncharitable tone over the course of its life.

I initially changed the title because I objected to the inclusion of the words "heresy/schism" in the title.

I think this thread has served its purpose and, since it is Great Lent, we need to focus on other things than derogatory comments about our fellow Christians.
