Well, I'm sorry actually... I don't speak much French, although most of the Greque Catholique people in my parish do speak French. My Greek and Italian has unfortunately, gotten the better of me.

I`m very happy with a new melkite member, Lather! My maternal grandmother is from Maalouf`s family of Zahle and my grandfather is from Gebara`s, Damascus(they`re cousins). From which region of Beirut are you, and from which parish? I know a melkite guy from Beirut, Elie Yacoub, and I have a relative there in Beirut that frequents a church in Achrafieh.

A curiosity: here in Brazil there`re relatives of your Archbishop Sayedna Youssef Kallas.

Philippe we have a family of Maaloufs in our parish.

LOL - every Melkite parish (exc maybe St Ignatios of Antioch in Augusta, GA - 'the home of the blue-Eyed Melkites', so-called) is virtually guaranteed to have, at the very least, a Maloof, a Haddad, and a Habib family (spellings optional) .

Likewise, every Antiochian parish should have the same - and, of course, those of each name in each parish will be related to those of that name in the other. It's an unwritten law.

How could (and why would) I forget you? You can't imagine how pleased I am at the diverse body of Melkites who post here (there are some others whom I didn't list because it's been a long time since I've seen them). We do need a European representative though - perhaps someone from the parish in Paris (I haven't forgot your PM - honest)



The founding families of the Cathedral parish here in the US were virtually all from Zahle or the villages surrounding it.
