So if the parish was instrumental in the formation of the Carpatho-Rusyn diocese, why didn't it ever join the diocese itself?

The parish could have been the epicenter of the storm with many faithful leaving, however, enough must have stayed, and as such remaining the majority, thus, avoiding a court case.

If "avoiding a court case" was the motive of the parish, it failed - they postponed the court case but landed in one anyway.
