I was wondering if there would be any interest in another forum within the Town Hall forum. Many of us are dog owners and they are Gods creatures after all. To be sure many of us have stories, and insights. We would want enough people who are interested so as to create a forum that would be active and not just sitting around collecting dust.

I love dogs. I used to own several.

I have been off the Forum for a while due to personal problems. I thought this would be an excellent way to jump back in and test myself.

Not many takers here at this point. Might need to leave this sleeping dog lie.

Well there don't seem to be many takers. I suppose we can just start posting and see where it goes providing the moderators are OK with it.

We don't have a dog now. We use to raise and show St. Bernards. Also, the last dog that we were so attached too, Bootsy was stolen. I still look for him even though it has been a few years. Then Corky was a springer spaniel, she was my husbands dog. When we brought her home, Granpap Cholewinsk went to his eternal rest in a weeks time. Honestly, she had granpap's looks and expressions. We always told everyone about it, then one day my sister-in-law was up from Florida - out on the back deck - she came running in screaming - Corky looked at me with dad's eyes and expressions. biggrin Truly an odd thing.

I have two big uns. Riley<my wifes service dog>is a Great Dane German Shepherd mix and Gretchen is a Rottweiler Boxer mix.

Gretchen was the first and was a dominant pushy brat adopted from the SPCA. I acquired my dog handling/training skills very quickly through a baptism of fire. (-; Since then I have made my living working with dogs, doesn't pay like the last gig but I am sure a lot happier.

Riley was a 4 month old pup when we got him from the SPCA, a jolly go lucky chap who I thought at the time was loveable but dumb as a brick. As he grew and matured I found him to be a lot smarter than I gave him credit for. This is the dog that is now certified and registered as a service animal for my wife. He passed his K9 good citizens test the first time out as well as the certification by the vet for his service work. When training him it took a few weeks worth of work, not months. True he only pulls a cart for her but he adapted very quickly.

What does all of this have to do with this board/forum. Well I think these animals are a gift from God. We see them helping us in so many and varied ways. Truly, when I was able to observe an individual working with her seeing eye dog I was just amazed what he was able to do for her and how the dog helped her cope with her disability I really began to understood how important they are in our lives. I know when I get stressed out mine help me to get back on an even keel.
