I'm giving out candy along with Bible tracts. Gospel of St John 3:16 Douay version.
We had several Moslem kids come trick or treating last year, but somehow I think a New Age Soccer Mom is more likely to complain then their parents.

I'm working on an open memo assignment, plus all my other law school work, and will be attending the 5:00 PM Mass today at the Catholic Center here on campus, where I will suffer through a medley of Marty Haugen tunes. At least I can get my penance and Sunday obligation in at the same time! Alexis

At sundown I will be conducting solemn Vespers for All Hallow's Eve, using the basic outline of Evening Prayer from the Lutheran Book of Worship. The Lessons, Psalms, and Collects are from the Episcopal Book of Occasional Services.
* THE SERVICE OF LIGHT pp. 142-145 G As the canticle “Joyous Light of Glory” (p. 143) begins we will light tapers from the large Vesper candle. These remain lighted until the close of the prayer on page 145. * PSALM 141 TUNE: O SHENANDOAH
Refrain: Lord, let my pray’r Arise as incense Off’ring up A fragrance pleasant; And let me now Lift hands before you, To praise your name, To praise your name, An ev’ning sac-ri-fice.
O Lord I cry To you, come quickly, Hear my voice When I call to you; And, let my pray’r Arise as incense Off-er-ing up Off-er-ing up A fragrance most pleasant.
Lord, set a watch In front of my mouth, Guard the door Before my two lips. O, do not let My heart seek evil; Nor let my mind Be overcome With the wicked people.
But turn my heart To You, Most Holy In you Lord, I take my refuge. O strip me not Of life eternal, For unto you, With Spirit, Son, Be the pow’r and glory.
Refrain
* PRAYER The Witch of Endor
LESSON 1 Samuel 28:3-19 PSALM 130--sung Tone # 2 p. 281 G SILENCE * PRAYER The Vision of Eliphaz the Tishbite
LESSON Job 4:12-21 PSALM 108:1-6--sung Tone # 9 p. 269 G SILENCE * PRAYER The Valley of Dry Bones
LESSON Ezekiel 37:1-14 PSALM 143:1-11--sung Tone # 1 pp. 285-286 G SILENCE * PRAYER The War in Heaven
LESSON Revelation 12:7-12 PSALM 103:17-22--sung Tone # 3 p. 264 G SILENCE * PRAYER HOMILY * HYMN Holy God, We Praise Your Name # 535 G following the fourth verse we will sing the additional verses printed on the back Christ, you are our glor-rious King Son of God, enthroned in splendor; But deliverance to bring You all honor did surrender, And were of a virgin born Humbly on that Christmas morn.
You did take the sting of death Son of God, as Savior given. On the cross your dying breath Opened wide the gates of heaven. In the glory of that land You are set at God’s right hand.
As our judge you will appear Savior, who has died to win us; Help your servants, drawing near; Lord, renew our hearts within us, Grant that with your saints we may Live in ev-er-last-ing day.
* THE LITANY pp. 148-151 G (right column) * COLLECT FOR ALL SAINTS’ DAY * OUR LORD’S PRAYER p. 152 G * BENEDICAMUS p. 152 G * BLESSING p. 152 G

I spoke to a Catholic young adults group on the afterlife. Was supposed to be a 45 minute talk with 45 minutes of questions. Turned into 2 1/2 hours all told.

I handed out candy to about 60 trick or treaters (about double my usual, probably because it was such a balmy night here), while Clyde, my one-eyed black cat, sat on top of an orange Home Depot bucket on the porch and took it all in - inducing more than one shriek from a little person who looked less scary than he did .

We only had three, they came at one time.

It rained all evening, and was windy and cold. I have some treacherous stairs and a long driveway, which I thought would be dangerous for children. I took all the candy to my sister's house for her to give away, then returned home and locked the driveway gate. Of course, I bought extra chocolate for myself.

I laid tile.
Yes, we finally have tile in the entryway!
Of course, this is less than 10%,as as I still need to go down the hall to the right and into that bathroom, and to the living room to the right, which then flows into the dining room, and then to kitchen to the right and laundry room to the left, but the biggest project from my tenant damage is started!

Do we even seriously believe that the chocolate halloween candies made it to Charle's sister's house, as he claims?!?

Actually, they did. I bought unbelievable amounts of candy for my sister to give away. But I did keep some for myself. The Lord loves a cheerful giver...
