Got this message from one of my son Andrew's Boys Scout Troop Leaders (the Mr. Carite mentioned below). His fellow Scout, Brandon Grandinetti, has been diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, an intestinal disorder. They thought they would treat it with medication. Now, he appears to be in trouble. Below is his mother's impassioned plea for our prayers. Brandon is a great kid, and his parents are good, practicing Catholics. Please pray for his recovery!

Dn. Robert

Hi Mr. Carite,

Brandon is having news today 11-13-9 Friday. When we went to see him yesterday we thought we were just getting CT Scan results, however they dropped a bomb on us by telling us he is having surgery today. We were originally told it would be possibly Monday or Tuesday of next week. They said the infection is so bad, they really can't wait any longer. I know Randy asked that people especially call on Fridays and Tuesdays, but today is not a good day. He will undergo surgery and be out for at least 5 hours. Because in my opinion they waited too long to do this, I wanted them to do surgery on his last admission and they would not. Now that his condition has worsened, he not only has the Crohn's Disease area which needs to be removed, but he developed an abcess which needs to be removed and now he also has developed fistula's which have to be repaired. These are all different things which transpire as the disease progresses. Unfortunately due to them missing their window of opportunity to do surgery earlier, now things are much worse. This is extremely upsetting as Brandon now needs an Ileostomy. An Ileostomy is basically a bag which will collect feces in it and drain out all of the infection while the bowel, intestines and other internal tissues heal. Brandon will have to wear a bag/Ileostomy for 3 to 4 months, then he will have to go back to the hospital and have surgery to reconnect the tissue after it is healthy. NO Calls today please. We need a few days to deal with this, it is so upsetting. Please everyone PRAY EXTRA Hard today for Brandon!! Thank you all so much for all of your thoughts and prayers we really apreciate it and we really need alot of them today. Thanks again! Take care!
Sincerely, Mrs. G.

May the Lord have mercy, and may Brandon's guardian angel, and all the saints which the family holds dear, intercede for a successful surgery now and in five months. May they grant this young man comfort and strength and courage, and may he be restored to much greater health in five months...Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy!

In Christ,
Alice

Prayers for young Brandon, that his physicians be guided by the Unmercenary Cosmas and Damien, that he recover swiftly from surgery and without ill effects, and that he be healed of this disease.

Just an update: Brandon has had surgery, and is in recovery. So far, so good, according to his mom. Thanks for all your prayers.
