Extraordinary site, I can't believe we haven't come across it previously since it's been on-line since 2003. I did find the organization a bit distracting - too many sidebars, etc - but it's a huge resource.
After a bit of digging, I find it is the work of Paul Halsall, a British medieval historian who did graduate studies at Fordham and is now back in the UK. I have seen other of his sites , done in conjunction with some courses that he taught at Fordham and elsewhere.
