However, leaks from informed Vatican sources suggested that the Pope wished to discuss several topics, notably including proposals to reach out to Catholic traditionalists.
Pope confers with top aides; Vatican mum on topic

I wasn't going to post at first then I thought it might be a useful to some.

From various news sources, this is the basic outline of what went on:

The Pope met with the Curia and the heads of the various dicasteries to discuss a reform of the Curia as well as reconciliatory gestures to the SSPX. No decision was made at this "consultation," excluding that of deciding to hold another actual "meeting" or conference to decide about rescinding the excommunications and stating that all Latin Rite priests can offer and administer the Classical rites.

It seems this meeting was prelimenary. The next meeting is to be held either in April (according to one source) or in March, possibly on the 23rd, according to others, which would make sense because the "predicted" date of the consistory is March 24th and 25th.

Who knows when and if a decision will actually be reached...

But we should pray.

Here's a snippet from www.whispersintheloggia.blogspot.com/

Most everyone and everything is, at this point, "tight-lipped." However, the word I'm getting is that, at the interdicasterial meeting held today, a document was ordered which would, as I was told, "free the Old Mass," clearing a major hurdle toward resolving the eighteen year-old schism of the Society of St. Pius X. Concerns on its implementation in the dioceses were noted.

It is reported that the Pope's desire is to have the document drafted and on the table at the next summit of the curial heads, to be held sometime in late March.

In contrast to Whispers' first report of the recent rapid developments on the question of the Society, the words "in privatu" were not used in this summary of the meeting and its intents as regard a prospective indult of the Pian Rite. Of course, this does not mean that the construction no longer applies -- it simply was not used, which is of note.

As always, more as it is credibly received.

If this is true then I will be most interested to see what happens in the ekklesia over the next year. I do not know what will happen with the SSPX but I am very intruiged to see how Papa Bene will begin curial reform. He was known for streamlining the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and running a slick ship to boot. If he starts slashing through the red tape then things could get pretty interesting in Rome...
