Glory to Jesus Christ!
In this morning's DL it was announced that His Holiness, Benedict XVI, has approved the change of the name of the Eparchy of Van Nuys for the Ruthenians to the Holy Protection of Mary Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Phoenix. The Pro-Cathedral of Saint Stephen has been elevated to the status of Cathedral for the Holy Protection of Mary Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Phoenix. The change is effective immediately. Thanks for the news Deacon John. You have even managed to scoop David Cheney, whose Catholic Hierarchy site almost always can be counted as among the first non-news sites to post this kind of information. Many years, Neil (who was very pleased that a recent directory change worked successfully, allowing him to update all the eparchy's parish entries in one fell swoop, rather than one-by-one, as would previously have been required)

Posts editorializing on the ecclesiastical politics of these changes have been split from this thread and can be found in the E-W forum.
