The Little and Great Entrances were, however, abbreviated. The priest went through the deacons' doors and then straight back through the royal doors, without encircling the nave.
I've been to DL in both Russian Orthodox parishes and the Greek Orthodox cathedral in Pittsburgh. It seems that Slavic practice is not to go through the church during either the Little or Great Entrance while the practice at the Greek cathedral was to make the Great Entrance through the whole church.
What you describe as to the DL at the Ukrainian Catholic parish is the way the DL was served at a parish we used to attend in the suburban Philadelphia area some years ago. The English DL was totally spoken at that time and abbreviated to fit into about 50 minutes--including the sermon. Incense was never used. The reason, however, may have been linked to the fact that the bulk of the congregation was Latin and it was served on Saturday evening for the benefit of people who worked on Sunday. At that time (mid-1970s), the Phila archdiocese forbade the celebration of Mass on Saturday evening even though it was the only place in North America that did not allow it.
