On March 11, 1990 the land of my forefathers, Lithuania, declared independance from the Soviet Union, which had hellishly occupied the country for 50 years. Please join me in praying that Lithuania will use her new-found freedom wisely and make progress among the nations of the world. sites of interest about Church life there include: www.katalikai.ltwww.gailestingumas.lt (Vilnius shrine of Divine mercy) www.siluva.ltwww.ourladyofsiluva.comwww.kryziukalnas.lt (Hill of Crosses) www.piligrimukelias.lt (Catholic pilgrimage sites in Lithuania)

(recent Lithuanian pro-family, anti-sodomite legislation is really praiseworthy, but I wonder how long will it stand...)

Does the pro-family legislation mean they are going to make divorce very difficult and remarriage afterwards nearly impossible?

I believe the Lithuanians were the first of the former Soviet republics to declare independence. Quite a trend they established!

My Subdeacon,Igor Itomlenski, although a devout Russian Orthodox, was also a Lithuanian patriot. In my years of serving in Cleveland,he was a staunch supporter of not only myself, but of both the long suffering Lithuanian and Russian peoples. On his behalf,I add my own congratulations to the Lithuanian nation and ask everyone's prayers for the soul of Subdeacon Igor.
