Glory to Jesus Christ!

Found this video on Youtube. My parish (Holy Angels Byzantine Catholic, San Diego, CA) had a talent show a few weeks back and our priest sang this medley where the song Maria from West Side Story was turned into a song called "Nicea", and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious was retuned into "Super-christological-and-homoousiosis".

Not sure who actually wrote it but it was pretty funny to see and thought I'd share it.

Blessings,

Thanks for posting this - I couldn't stop laughing. It was great!

I think I especially enjoyed it because I'm in the St Stephen's program, and last semester we studied a bit about the Christological crises of the early centuries and the Councils, and had to learn a whole bunch of those words like "homoousios" etc.

What fun! Thanks again.

This was the highlight of the Talent Show, in my opinion. Watching it brings back the fun of that day.

Father Robert is an amazing Priest and we are blessed to have him.

dear Nelson:

is this your parish? How terrific!

which parish? This is an "in-Communion-with-Rome" parish?

Who is the priest? Sorry, should I say "archpriest" (thought I caught a glimpse of his archpriest cross)?

The people a clearly theologically well educated! You'd have to be to get the humour of the song!

Many Years to your parish and parish priest!

It's a golden oldie, actually. A theological Tom Lehrer song.

Catechetical instruction will never be the same.

And here I though it was pretty creative when a Seminary prof used "Camptown Races" to spoof the Arian heresy:

"There was a time when He was not, do-dah, do dah:
For He was made and not begot, O do-dah day."

Not bad. Arius would approve--he used catchy tunes to transmit his doctrine to the masses, and the Athanasius then followed suit with his own music, thus spawning a whole genre of Christian hymnody.

Herb,

It's Holy Angels Byzantine in San Diego. If I've never highlighted its website in the "Parish Websites" thread, I should have. It's well worth checking out - there's a link to it on the directory entry. A beautiful temple.

Many years,

Neil
