He struck them with an exceedingly great beating, and the fled before him. (9) An evil spirit came from God upon Saul as he was resting in his house with a pear in his hand, and David was playing the harp. (10) And Saul sought to strike David with his spear, but David slipped away from him as he drove the spear into the wall. David fled and escaped. Interestingly, the OSB lets this passage go without any comment at all.

[9] And the evil spirit from the LORD was upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his javelin in his hand: and David played with his hand. I have not found any comments regarding verse 9 in any of my bibles...

His jealousy was again enkindled by the success of David. C. "C." refers to Dom Augustin Calmet It is interesting that without going into all the detailed explanations of the apologetics site you referenced, this comment pretty well sums it up.
