Prayers for our brethren, memory eternal to the Lord's handmaiden, and prayers for the full recovery of the 8 others injured.

Many years,

Neil

Eternal memory for the newly departed.

IMHO, no one can call himself a Christian and do this type of thing, regardless of who he thinks is his bishop.

In Christ,

Bob

From the 16th century litany, as adapted in the 1978 Lutheran Book of Worship:

From all sin, from all error, from all evil; from the cunning assaults of the devil; from an unprepared and evil death:

R Good Lord, deliver us.

L From war, bloodshed, and violence; from corrupt and unjust government; from sedition and treason:

R Good Lord, deliver us.

L From epidemic, drought, and famine; from fire and flood, earthquake, lightning and storm; and from everlasting death:

R Good Lord, deliver us.

Dear Father Thomas,

So many of the lovely Lutheran prayers you are sharing with us sound Orthodox!

Respectfully,
In Christ--
Alice

Alice,

Thank you so kindly. The Litany is particularly dear to me because I was gathered with my brother regional clergy for our monthly meeting beginning with Eucharist on the morning of September 11, AD 2001, which also happens to be the anniversary of my Baptism.

A colleague arrive late, just after the Sermon, and anounced that the Trade Center towers had fallen. Even though I was not the Presider I asked that we might then sing this Litany.
