Mruzi,

Here's a link to our Directory entry for it. There is a link there to the parish website. It is a Russian GC parish, subject to the Latin Ordinary.

We have at least one forum member who is a parishioner there, but who it is escapes me at the moment.

Many years,

Neil

C'est moi smile (Perhaps others...)

Welcome, in advance, Mruzi! We are tiny, although I think we have grown by 4 since you posted in July, including Hierodeacon Christopher who is doing a presentation this weekend, see below. Your coming will still up our attendance by a good percentage, LOL. If you're driving allow plenty of time to find parking. Feel free to PM me.

Neil, I hadn't seen that link before. Sadly the Schedule of Divine Services posted on it is incorrect. We have DL at 10:00 Sundays, followed by agape meal. Other liturgies when we have them are posted on the Calendar. I go to a lovely small Russian Orthodox parish when we don't have liturgy, like this Sat. Our website is here.

FYI: From Hierodeacon Christopher
Quote:
Just a reminder that this upcoming weekend will be my talks on Eastern Catholic Churches. It will be the same talk given twice as follows:

10:00 am on Saturday 21 November, followed by some snacks and social time.

1:00 pm on Sunday 22 November after Divine Liturgy and our meal.

I would be so pleased to have you all there to help share our love for all things Byzantine Catholic with those who may be joining us for the first time. Thanks!

Christopher, OP

Mary Louise,

Yes - you are one (my apologies blush ), there are also 1 or 2 others, as best I recollect.

Thanks for the updated schedule info - I just corrected the data entry. That was the info on the website back when the entry was created, probably a bit more than 2 years ago (1 of the first 4 entries to the Directory). Unfortunately, entries only get updated when folks contact us or I stumble on the fact that things have changed (there's no easy way to discover or otherwise keep track of them).

Many years,

Neil

We are making plans to begin having Divine Liturgy the first Saturday of the month, 10:00am. This was the case in the past, before my time. :-) Keep us in your prayers.

At our DL for Transfiguration 7pm last evening we had visitors- a couple from the East Bay, and a family of 7 with their uncle from Lodi, about an hour and a half away. How they heard about this liturgy only God knows! It continues to amaze me that we have visitors almost every Sunday.

I've been to OLF several times in the past years. I even posted pictures of the chapel two years ago in the Photo Gallery
Here is the photo of the iconostasis:

The chapel has since been painted in brighter colors and there are fewer icons than before.

I am curious to know why the chapel was remodelled.
Did it have anything to do with the change in the name of the parish from "OLF Russian Catholic Church" to "OLF Byzantine Catholic Church"?

Good please keep me informed so I can begin going again.\
It was one of the few times that I was able to get away from my own parish.

My wife and I went for a weekend to San Francisco, May 22 & 23. Going to Divine Liturgy at Our Lady of Fatima on the feast of Pentecost was truly the highlight of our trip. Meeting "Likethethief" and other parishioners also made it a most beautiful experience.

It makes perfect sense that in a parish under the patronage of Our Lady of Fatima you should have Divine Liturgy on the First Saturdays.

We are set to have Divine Liturgy this Sat., 9/4, at 10:00am. Hope you can make it, Father! (No Sat. DL for Oct.)

Sorry I cant because the schedule is so busy here, I need several months notice so I can get it on my calendar and work things out with the other priests.

When does the parish celebrate its patronal feast day? If I recall, it used to be Oct 13th. Is it still so today?

The Pokrov is celebrated as the parish feast day. The Holy Protection of the Mother of God feast comes in Oct. so that may be what you are thinking of.

I've only been in the parish a few years so I asked around about that Oct 13th date. Our Br. Myron has been in the parish since the earliest years. He doesn't recall a celebration at that Oct 13th time.

Reminder to anyone in our area, OLF will celebrate the Divine Liturgy at 10:00am on the first Saturdays of the Month beginning with Nov. 6th. Parking is always a challenge. The best place to look for a space is on one of the dead end streets- 20th Ave, 21st Ave. etc.
