Hello everyone,
I have a question that I intend on speaking to my pastor about but I thought I'd also post it here in the forum for some thought. I'm a Latin Catholic but for the past five and a half years of my life (about the time I've been a serious practicing Catholic) I've frequented a Ruthenian parish. Often times, I'd attend Divine Liturgy in the morning and then go to my Latin parish afterward for Mass. For the past four years, I've been discerning a vocation to the priesthood.
Now here comes my question. I feel just as much at home in the Ruthenian Church as I do the Latin Church. I've been primary discerning with a Latin religious congregation. Recently however, I've been identifying more and more with the east and find myself traveling many miles to attend the Divine Liturgy. If I were to pursue a ritual transfer at some point in the near or distant future, and continue discerning my vocation to the priesthood, would that rule our joining a Roman Catholic religious order?
Or should I simply continue attending the DL while remaining a Latin and hope that (if the need be) I could potentially be granted biritual faculties?
So for me, I'm not at all interested in pursuing a transfer because Eastern Catholic clergy can marry, I intend to keep clerical celibacy. This question has just been popping up in my mind more and more as I think how essentially, despite being a Latin, all my practicing Catholic life has been split between East and West.
Thank you and God Bless,
VTCatholic
