I think he is referring to the emoticon button at the top right of the screen(to the right of your user name), just below the forum banner.

Clicking on the smilie will open a pop up window with several choices, non of which is neutral (reserved for off line status)

I agree - that's the one to which he's referring, but clicking mine does nothing. I checked to make sure that my pop-up blocker was off, still nothing ... hmm

I don't think that the button opposite our name can be changed. It's either happy "on" or greyed out "off."
