you may well be right, John. My info on the history of the Church comes from oral tradition on the south side. I don't know anything about the history of St V's.

The Slovak Zion Synod is the only non-geographic Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

There are twelve congregations listed on the Synod's page linking to parish web sites.


Please correct me if I am incorrect, but I was always led to believe that the Slovak Lutherans were not the result of 19th century activities of the Lutheran Church, but they date back to the Reformation era. I recall that the Ascension Church in Binghamton was very Catholic in both its interior and its liturgy, at least through the 1970's.
