The article says all the bishops are obliged to participate in the synod. Does this include auxiliaries and retired? Does it include Patriarch Lubomyr?

If I have understood canon 11 of the Particular Law of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church correctly, all active bishops (eparchial bishops, coadjutor bishops, exarchs, administrators, auxiliaries and curial bishops) have the right to a deliberative vote. Retired bishops, presumably including His Beatitude Lubomyr, do not.

Still, I doubt anyone will be selected over the objections of Patriarch Lyubomir.

Yanukovich could make life difficult, if he so chose. I can't believe even he could be such an idiot, though.
