You are probably already aware of St Pachomius Library, but if not, you will find a large number of Ephrem's writings here. If you need something more scholarly, let me know, and I can probably put together a bibliography of Ephrem's writings from the hand of people like Sebastian Brock and Robert Murray. In the meantime, do look at a book by Aho Shemunkasho, entitled 'Healing in the Theology of Ephrem the Syrian'. In the midst of the discussion, you will find a large number of snippets from across his corpus.

A Spiritual Psalter by Bishop Theopan the Recluse--a collection of St Ephraim's work--is a good place to start. The book is a group of excerpts from St. Ephraim's works arranged in Kathismata similar to the psalm arrangement used by Orthodox monastics.
Bob Thanks Bob, I hadn't heard of that one - sounds perfect You are probably already aware of St Pachomius Library, but if not, you will find a large number of Ephrem's writings here.

This would just be for my own personal reading. And I really wouldn't want to put you through all that trouble! Very generous of you to offer though For more practical advice from the East Syriac tradition there is always the universally venerated St. Isaac the Syrian (St. Isaac of Nineveh) whose Ascetical Homilies are once again available in English, French, Italian and Russian. I do have a short, pocket-sized volume of his sayings, and he's also heavily quoted in the book "Orthodox Prayer Life" by Coptic monk Matthew the Poor. (An excellent book) I'm sure at some point I'd like to get his homilies as well. Thanks for the suggestion
