We get to commemorate the holy prophet Elijah today (http://orthodoxwiki.org/Elijah) and it's customory to bless wheeled vehicles in memory of his transportation to heaven via fiery chariot...I love his story...all those conflicts/confrontations with that wicked ol'queen Jezebel...the contest with the priests of Baal and what he had done to them after they lost the contest.

also today we commemorate http://orthodoxwiki.org/Maria_Skobtsova and her courageous companions...one of her biographies is called "The Rebel Nun" and that appeals to me already...she puts me in mind of the RC Blessed Restituta Kafka: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maria_Restituta

Saint Mary of Paris and Blessed Maria Restituta pray for us.

Our chariots were blessed this past Sunday, 5 cars and a Vespa. :-) I know of other parishes which will bless this coming Sunday.
