To the good members of the Forum:

Glory to Jesus Christ!

I am wondering if any of you might know how to obtain some holy oil of Saint Francis Charbel. Any assistance may be helpful. I think I have spelled his name incorrectly. Please pardon me for that.

God Bless,

John Doucette

Shlomo John,

Who? Do you mean St. Sharbel Makhlouf (Charbel is another spelling). Or do you mean St. Sharbel of Raha whos feast day is 5 September.

Poosh BaShlomo,

I know a few years have passed since this post, but I am hoping someone may be able to help. I am trying to find a reliable source for St. Charbel Makhlouf's Holy Oil. I would appreciate any information. Is there a way one can receive it from Lebanon? Is there a trustworthy source in the States? Thank you! God bless you. +JMJ+

You can produce this kind of informal holy oil yourself. No need to have recourse to an external source.

Get some olive oil; get yr priest to bless it (you can skip this step); then get a votive glass & with prayer and love, burn it in the glass for a while in front of an icon or relic of the saint. Save the remaining amount of oil. VOILA! you have yr own holy oil in honour of the saint.

You can skip the step of having it blessed by a priest because the very act of burning it with devotion makes the oil into a sacramental - not that having it blessed by a priest is anything bad...I say this not to criticise or have disdain for the ministery of sacramental blessings by priests/bishops.

Shlomo Ancillamariae,

Contact either eparchy here in the States and they can provide Oil from St. Sharbel's grave for you. If you are near a Maronite Church see if someone is going to Lebanon and they can bring some back for you.

Fush BaShlomo,
Yuhannon
