Did Ss Peter & Paul in Jerome have a different patronage before the 1935 fire?

I have a 1928 Catholic Directory which references St Nicholas in Jerome. As far as I can determine, there was no GC parish in Jerome that translated to Orthodoxy in the '30s. Or, if one did, it changed patronage, as none of the Churches has a St Nicholas parish in that immediate area.

I think the nearest St Nicholas Church to Jerome is in Nickytown - about 40 miles away. Even allowing for the fluidity of PA township/borough boundaries that comes into play whenever people from there tell you where something is located, 40 miles is a bit of a stretch biggrin

Anyone know anything more?

Many years,

Neil

I consulted several general histories of Byzantine Rite parishes and I see no refernce to a St. Nicholas GC Church of Jerome. SS. Peter and Paul's, as far I can tell, has always had that name.

John,

Thanks for checking and your answer. The original reference (since parishes were not individually listed in the Official Catholic Directory back then, as they are now) was to a priest being transferred from St Nicholas in Jerome to elsewhere. In view of what you found, I'm going to assume that it was an error by the compiler.

Many years,

Neil
