Some months ago, Fr. Robert Taft, the biggest authority on Byzantine Rite, launched an appeal through the media for the preservation of the Pontifical Oriental Institute's Library in Rome.

The complete story (very interesting):

A resumed version in Jesuit News:

Having spent much time working with the rare books in the PIO Library, I am only too well aware of the deterioration of the books. Moveover, most of the alumni are later assigned to positions which do not make it possible for them to offer serious donations to the library for the maintenance of the books. The need for help for the PIO Library is most urgent.

We discussed this a couple of months ago but not in as much detail as you provide.

PIO Library

Thank you for reminding us of the Library's need for assistance.
