Despite the coal fire that has consumed much of its home community, Assumption of the BVM UGCC recently celebrated its 100th Anniversary.

May God grant many years to the parish!

I have to say that, if anyone has the opportunity to visit Centralia and Assumption, do so. The temple, sitting high on the hillside, above the desolation of the abandoned and nearly obliterated town is a powerful testament to faith.

And, the best view of it from a distance is had from the cemetaries in which the departed Catholics and Orthodox of the town rest, affording an opportunity to remember them in a moment's prayer.

Many years,

Neil
