Say what you will, but the Russians do know how to throw a party. Eis polla eti, Despota! Many Years! Two part video, about 3 hours, but really something. http://www.youtube.com/user/russianchurch#p/u/2/LSz-0nBhPXI

You haven't partied until you've partied with Bulgarians.

After my wife completed her course in Bulgarian, her teacher, an octogenarian Bulgarian refugee (these were the bad old days) invited us to a party to celebrate the end of the class. We arrived around nine, to discover that the party had been going on for several hours already (a pile of empty vodka bottles testified to the fact). Most of the people at the party were also Bulgarian refugees, well up in their sixties and seventies. They were drinking, singing and dancing like mad. We stayed until one in the morning--and the party was still going strong. Had either of us tried to keep up with them, toast for toast, we would have been found under the table the next morning. And this is when we were young, and in good form, having only recently graduated from Georgetown, where drinking is a degree requirement. Those old Bulgars put us to shame.

Thank you so much for posting this. The sight of Iliya II, Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia serving whilst so sick was so heartwarming, it brought tears to my eyes. I was also impressed with the little Greek monk, the Guardian of the Belt. Even in such awe inducing surroundings, he kept his eyes on the ground like a proper monk. Very moving video, and well worth watching.
