Dear forum members in Christ,
Please keep my brother-in-law Dan in your prayers. My oldest sister is in the hospital with him in California right now, just got off the phone with her. He has a huge blood clot in his groin and one of his legs is swollen up to about twice its normal size. They are doing surgery at 8:30 am Pacific time tomorrow. My brother-in-law is 62. His Mom died in that same hospital on Christmas Eve 20 years ago and my Mom died there 6 years ago on Dec. 28 (she was in that hospital dying on Dec. 24 though - I was blessed to be with her the whole time) and so these thoughts are in the minds of my sister and her family. It is a very difficult time. Dan is just like a brother to me and he has been in my life since I was 3 years old. Please pray with me that Our Merciful Lord will guide the surgeon's hand tomorrow and that all will be well.

Prayers for Dan, that the Holy Unmercenary Physicians, Cosmas and Damien, guide his doctors in their care and treatment of him, that he recover fully and swiftly and be restored to the loving arms of his family at this holy season. Prayers, too, for Dan's family, especially his wife and children, and our brother, Rybak, who is so close to him, that they be strong in this time of trial and that they be comforted by their faith.

I just spoke to my family out in California. My brother-in-law's surgery was unsuccessful this morning. The clot was much larger, more complex than the mri indicated and they could not remove it and did not even try when they saw it. The doctor put screens in the vein, above and below the clot mass, and my brother-in-law is now on blood thinning drugs. Looks like we are in "wait and see" mode at this time. The doctor said they would need to keep him in the hospital for several more days. Please continue your prayers. Thank you. May Our Merciful Lord bless you during this holy season of His birth.
