The Feast of Saint Stephen, Protomartyr and Deacon is observed today (Dec 26th) in the Latin Church and tomorrow (Dec 27th) in the Churches of the East and Orient, both Orthodox and Catholic.

On this the feast of their heavenly patron, please offer a prayer for all those of the diaconate who faithfully serve our respective parishes, for the many subdeacons and deacons whose presence as members here is a blessing to us, and for all the subdeacons and deacons who rest in blessed repose, especially Deacons Nicholas and Stan, both of blessed memory, husbands of our beloved sisters, friends, and fellow forumites, Diaconessa Alicia/Penthaetria and Pani Rose.

A friend posted elsewhere a link to a page dedicated to St Stephen and intended to promote the diaconate - it is the work of, and posted on the website of, our own beloved friend and fellow member, Subdeacon Lazarus der-Ghazarian, of the Armenian Catholic Church.
