Dear all,
The one year old son of some friends is in urgent need of prayers.
Alex had an accident and is currently in induced coma, fighting for his life. He seems to have suffered severe brain injury, so even should he survive the outlook may be bleak. On the other hand, being so young, there might be more of a margin for recovery.
I ask you please to pray for him and his family.

Prayers for Baby Alex

Oh Lord have mercy! You said suffer not the little ones to come unto me. We bring this little one to you Jesus, and ask for your perfect healing in his life, along with the parents, family friends.

Kyrie Eleison! Lord have mercy! Lord have mercy on little precious Alex...please blessed Mother of our God, as a Mother who we honour at this period of the ecclesial year in the Nativity of our Lord, we come to you to intercede for this child and for his parents. Amen.

May our newborn Savior heal His young servant, Alex. May He also give strength to Alex's family and preserve their faith as they endure this trial. We ask this through the prayers and intercession of His Blessed Mother, the Theotokos, and all the angels and saints. Amen!

My brothers and sisters, I am humbled by your generous replies.
Unfortunately Alex's condition has taken a turn for the worse. His life support was removed today. I think he is still alive, but not expected to hold out for long.

The family is naturally finding it very difficult.

Today is, in the western calendar, the feast of the holy innocents.

May our blessed Mother of God wrap her loving mantle around Alex's parents and keep them strong and comforted despite their great sadness. Kyrie eleison!

Alex died yesterday.
As I said to his parents, like the Holy Innocents he is now in the arms of the only One who could love him as much as they do.

I know that Alex is in heaven, but unfortunately that probably doesn't help their pain much...

May the blessed Mother of God comfort them and get them through this dark period. Amen.

O Lord, receive Your servant, Alex in Your loving embrace. Welcome him in Your kingdom, where there is no pain, sorrow, nor mourning, but life everlasting. Console his parents, family and friends in their sorrow, keeping alive in their hearts the joyful promise of salvation, earned through their faith and Your perfect sacrifice. We ask this, O Lord, through the intercession of Your most pure Mother, the Theotokos, and all your angels and saints. Amen!

Filipe, we also ask that the Lord bless you and guide you, a true friend, in your effort to console this young family in their time of grief.

Prayers, O most merciful Lord, look upon baby Alex's parents with compassion and tender mercy and comfort them during this most painful time, and welcome baby Alex into Your heavenly kingdom...

Prayers for the parents of young baby Alex, whom himself is no longer in need of our prayers, being assuredly in the arms of the Holy Theotokos. Prayers that they have the strength to remain steadfast in their faith in the face of this tragedy that, to them and to many of us, is seemingly uncomprehensible.

Give to them to understand and accept that God allows such unfathomably sad things to happen not through lack of love for mankind but because, in His Wisdom, there is reason to do so - something that, when our own time comes, we may be blessed by Him to understand.

May Alex's memory be eternal.
