Brothers and Sisters:

Please keep me in your prayers. I've been battling something that is going around this region--for the past two weeks. Starts with sinus congestion, sore throat, chest congestion high temp, and it just hangs on. Had some meds, lots of time in bed, and still it hangs on. Used the Oil of the Sick from the OCA parish with the prayer for the sick and used my St. Nektarios oil and prayers to him. And it's still hanging on.

Thank God for the generosity of the members of this board and thank you all.

O holy Father, Physician of souls and bodies, You sent Your only-begotten Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, to heal every infirmity and to deliver us from death. Heal Your servant Bob of every spiritual and bodily ill that afflicts him. Restore him by the grace of Your Christ through the prayers of our most holy Lady, the Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary, and of all Your saints. For You, our God, are the fountain of healing, and we glorify You together with Your only-begotten Son, and Your Consubstantial Spirit, now and ever and forever (unto the ages of ages), Amen!

I've always treasured that prayer, and do hope it helps you heal body and soul!

Dear Bob,

If the fever came on suddenly with everything else, then it is influenza, and it really does hang around a long time, especially as we get older. Last year my husband and I both got it at the same time and we could not do anything for 10 -14 days (the longest period of such illness we have experienced), and it then had us weakened for another two weeks!

I pray that you will get over it...just be patient, rest, and take really good care of yourself and don't push yourself...when it is bad, you can't even if you want to! One thing that helps AFTER you feel better is to continue taking round the clock vitamin C, eating lots of vegetables and soups, and to continue resting as much as possible, because secondary infections (which we got anyway) can really knock you down as well.

I will keep you in my daily prayers...

I'm glad to pray for your recovery. Seems like you've had your fair share of sicknesses this past year. Tonight we'll burn the lampada before our icon of O.L. of Zarvanytsija for your intentions.
St. Seraphim of Sarov's feast is coming right on up so I suggest invoking him as well. I find him a great helper in distressing situations.
