Major Archbishop George of the Syro-Malabars and Major Archbishop Lucian of the Rommanians were named Cardinals today.

Axios! Always joyous news to see ECs/OCs recognized and elevated! It is unfortunate that none of the press clippings thus far (and I've seen many) emphasized their Eastern Catholic lineage - you'd have to guess from their titles that these two hierarchs were unique in some way.

We New Yorkers were also glad to see Archbishop Dolan's name on the list. Axios!

I'll leave it to others in our Forum community to calculate the increase in statistical probability of electing an Eastern Catholic Pontiff ...

I am very happy Major Archbishop George of the Syro-Malabars and Major Archbishop Lucian of the Romanians, as well as Archbishop Timothy Dolan were made Cardinals.
I work very hard as a volunteer for the Italo-Greek Catholic Church, putting in 5 to 30 hours a week for the church depending on what is needed.
I put my name forth because I saw the need and heard the call of the Holy Spirit. I have been doing this for 7 years now and I make sure everyday that I am true to the Eastern Catholic Church in all I do. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve.
I am a Roman Catholic. I also love the Western side of the Church too.
I am just as at home in the East and in the West and I am at home at Mass or at Divine Liturgy.
All of you should be thrilled to be part of our wonderful diversified Holy Mother Church.
I am not writing this to toot my own horn, but I get so discouraged when I see some people (East or West) writing derogatory, un-factual comments about OUR Church.
Get down on your knees people and pray for ALL of our Cardinals, East or West and pray for the Pope.
If you don't like what I have to say...I love you anyway.

The remainder of this thread has been relocated here - to the Christian East & West forum and retitled as Papal Authority & the Cardinalate in regard to Eastern Hierarchs (or something along those lines)

Many years,

Neil
