Ed, an older gentleman, is a good friend, with whom I've worked for four or five years now. Over that time, we've shared a lot of good conversation and regularly trade mysteries and good novels. I was a bit puzzled by his seemingly sudden decision to retire a few weeks ago, until he told me that he's been diagnosed with esophageal cancer and will treatment this coming week. Both he and his wife, Doris, are understandably frightened by this turn of events and would be very grateful for your prayers.
May the Holy Unmercenary Physicians, the Sainted Cosmas and Damian, guide Ed's doctors in his care and may God grant that he be cured and bless him with many years.
