Did someone remark that particular suggestion for the Eastern Churches to participate in the Year of Faith?

Quote:
2. It would be desirable that each Diocese in the world organize a study day on the Catechism of the Catholic Church, particularly for its priests, consecrated persons and catechists. On this occasion, for example, the Eastern Catholic Eparchies could hold a meeting with their priests to give witness to their specific experience and liturgical tradition in the one faith in Christ. Also, in this way, young particular Churches in mission territories would be able to give renewed witness to that joy of faith which is so often particular to them.

Are there years of no faith? Otherwise, what's the point?

Looking briefly at the document cited above by Philippe, I notice this commendation:

"5. It is hoped that many symposia, conferences and large gatherings will be held, even at the international level, to encourage encounters with authentic witness to the faith and to promote understanding of the contents of Catholic doctrine. "

Keep in mind that this year we will have in the US several Eastern Catholic Encounters (as this article points out: http://www.cnewa.us/default.aspx?ID=1482&pagetypeID=8&sitecode=US&pageno=1 ).

Thank God for calls for more faith and understanding of our Tradition.

Lord, increase our faith.

That encounter was held in Boston in 1999 and was organized by the Vatican Congregation for Eastern Churches.

The purpose of that encounter was to allow Cardinal Silvestrini, then Prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches, to ream out our God-loving bishops for their failure to comply with the Holy See's repeated directives to de-latinize and restore the fullness of their authentic Traditions. Father Robert Taft was brought in as designated hatchet man, and he let loose with both barrels in presentation Liturgy in the Life of the Church , which Jack Figel has graciously provided us through OLTV.

Thanks for this link - it was indeed a surprise to see a photo of our dear pastor, Fr. Jack Custer, featured alongside this article!

I join you in praying: Lord, increase our faith!

Was your opening quote from another thread? Not sure how this ties in ...

BTW - thanks for the OLTV link - I did enjoy watching the video!

The opening quote comes from this link in j.a. deane's post about earlier Eastern Catholic encounters.

Ah! Got it! Thanks for the background - sounds like it may have been quite an "encounter" ...

Looks like preparation has already begun:

Eastern Catholic Bishops Plan Encounter 2012

Has anyone seen or heard anything more current?
