Hi Folks:

I was wondering if anyone else uses the Biblical Book of Psalms as material or a model for their personal prayer?

I would be interested to hear if folks have particular favorite Psalms, or how they use the Psalm of their choice in their prayer.

I have discovered that Psalms 20 through 30 seem to be particularly powerful for me as well as Psalm 85. Currently I do little more than simply read the psalm randomly selected and take a bit of time to "own" the spirit of the writing as it applies to my current condition for that day.

Anyone else?

Best Wishes,

Bruce

The psalter is at the heart of daily worship in almost every Christian culture.

For "Byzantine" Christianity, I suggest looking at the Matins and Vespers services, and then the "suggested abbreviations of the psalter" to get an idea pf how we pray he psalter, particularly in monasteries.
