Slava Isusu Christu!

Dear Forum members:

I am going to apply to the Byzantine Catholic Seminary of SS. Cyril and Methodius for the MA in Byzantine Catholic Theology and want to know if any of you have any tips for me as an applicant and someone who will be potentially moving from Florida to Pittsburgh.

I will be graduating with my Bachelor's of Arts in Theological Studies from St. Joseph's College of Maine, and have taken extensive courses in Religious Studies and Theology (over 90 credits), mostly Latin/Western/Protestant/Biblical theology with one course in Eastern Catholic Theology and Worship and one in Russian Orthodoxy in Southeast Alaska.

Also does the Seminary offer federal financial aid/stafford loans, etc to assist with the cost of tuition, fees, off campus room/board transportation?

Any helpful tips and pointers would be much appreciated.

In the Theotokos,

Robert Horwath

Students at all accredited institutions of higher learning in the U.S., regardless of religious affiliation or lack thereof, are eligible to receive loans/grants through the usual federal and state programs.

Contact the dean of the seminary for further information.

Although this year has been a very blessed exception, prepare for a major climate change when you move to the edge of the Pennsylvania snowbelt!

Sturdy shoes with a non-skid sole are a must; and I highly recommend the use of studded tires. In Pennsylvania these may be mounted no earlier than November 1 and must be removed by April 15--in western Pennsylvania you'll appreciate them pretty much that entire season (most years) even if they are very noisy on dry pavement. Front-wheel, 4 wheel selectabke, or all-wheel drive is preferable; although I did very well with rear wheel drive with about 400 extra pounds over the rear axle and studded tires for many years.
