Moscow, February 8, Interfax - Prime Minister Vladimir Putin promised on Wednesday it would be one of the tasks of Russia's foreign policy to defend Christians in other countries who are persecuted for their faith.

"You needn't have any doubt that that's the way it will be," Putin said at a meeting with Russian religious leaders when Metropolitan Hilarion, foreign relations chief of the Russian Orthodox Church, expressed hope that Russia's government would stand up for persecuted Christian communities abroad.

Thank God there is one country that will since the United States could care less. May God bless Russia!

This has happened before, and it will all happen again.

Does this mean that the Russians will come to our shores to do for us what we did for the persecuted peoples of Iraq?

I don't believe a word Putin says about anything. All this protection of persecuted Christians gobbldy-gook is just another excuse for Russia to extend it's hegemony. Russia protecting Christians abroad is like placing the wolf to guard the hen-house.

Just like when the USA got entangled in Iraq.

What about the rights of persecuted, hounded, threatened dissident Orthodox Christians in Russia? The idea of Putin as a defender of Christians is perverse.

The silence in the West about the persecution of Christians (especially in the Middle East where we have toppled dictators, gone to war, encouraged 'arab springs', etc.) is DEAFENING...

This week's NEWSWEEK finally addresses the persecution of Christianity.

As the persecuted and jailed Elder Ephraim said in Russia: Russia will be strong, as it will save Orthodox Christianity.

Our prophecies from holy men have all said this.

This has nothing to do with President Putin, (though I tend to admire him since he has a spiritual father in Elder Ephraim, and he supports the Church, unlike the godless Greeks who lead Greece and are agnostic, could care less about having spiritual fathers, hate the Church and imprison men of God)...

God forgive me for saying this, and forgive them! Kyrie Eleison!

Admin: Can you please change 'unless the godless Greeks' to 'unLIKE the godless Greeks'. Thanks!

You know, I was being a bit of a smart aleck there, but it did raise an interesting question in my mind. If the Russians actually did decide that they have had enough of that devil in the White House going after Christians in this country, and they did invade, on who's side would you fight?

In other words, are you American first or Catholic/Orthodox Christian first?

I know what I would do.

Nothing good ever came out of backing any Russian government about anything at any time.
