Prayers for my dear friend and brother, the Lord's servant, Father Ambrose. May his doctors be guided in his diagnosis and treatment by the Unmercenary Physicians, the Sainted Cosmas and Damian. May the Lord look with mercy and kindness on His devoted priest and cure him of this dreaded scourge.

An update on Father Ambrose:

He had tests done yesterday by the respiratory specialist and anaesthesiologist to determine whether his heart is strong enough to withstand surgery to remove his gall bladder. (To explain, Father has been on a waiting list for a heart transplant for some time prior to this recent diagnosis. His cancer is of the gall bladder, a rare and dangerous manifestation of the disease.)

He expects to learn the recommendations resulting from the tests in mid-week, when he is also scheduled to meet with the surgeons.

Please keep our brother and my dear friend, Father Ambrose, in your prayers.

Prayers continue for Fr Ambrose who is meeting this latest problem with his usual fortitude .

I want to express my gratitude and say how touched I am by your concern and how much I value your prayers.

I received the news only 10 days ago, totally unexpected. I've been living with the daily expectation for the last 6 years that a "fatal cardiac event" is going to occur; learning of the cancer has not really brought on any more emotional stress than I have already. I am addicted to the beauty of this world, to every new Spring, but they say that Spring "up there" is much nicer.

Your prayers are deeply appreciated now and they'll be appreciated very much more later.
