You're most kind indeed, so many thanks. smile

However, as a Greek-Catholic I wouldn't be allowed to participate in such Eastern-Oriental
dialogue commission. wink

Sincerely,

I checked Dr. Kubiyovich's encyclopedia and some other sources and they list the Synod as the "Zamoysky" Synod.

The problem is that you wrote about city of "Zamoysc", not the "Zamoysky" Synod (which is
correct). I'll post some citations from your own posts below so you'll be able to re-read the places in question.

While Zamosc is part of Poland today, "Zamoysc" was its name when it was under Poland and therefore part of the Polish Kingdom at the time of the famous Synod.
The fact is that "Zamosc" is a Polonized form of the Ruthenian "Zamoysc" as occurred with many other place-names that are now formally part of Poland.

These are nice pieces, Alex, aren't they? :p biggrin :p biggrin :p biggrin :p biggrin

This thread is great evidence that we can't even agree on the little things. The actual name was the Council of Zammo-Bammo.

Yes, pronounced Zammo-Bammo, but spelled Zaymmoy-Baymmoy (silent Ys).

I think this also has something to do with the shortening of Josyp Schmogalsky's name to "Joe Shmoe". I think he was originally from Zaymmoy-Baymmoy.

Tell this Alex, who began the whole "controversy".

Dear Friends,

Yes, I began the whole controversy here . . .

But no one has excommunicate anyone over this "Error of the Ukrainians in Poland" yet! smile

And, Cantor Joe, is your idea of a good Church a Church where no one ever raises controversies or has arguments over anything?

If so, I think your Church would be a very boring experience indeed.

As you aren't Ukrainian, leave us Ukrainians to fight amongst ourselves.

By doing that, we train ourselves to better defend our Church and nation against our enemies, should they come calling again!

While you're at it, why don't you go to a restaurant that serves spicy food too? smile

Dear Piotr,

Please forgive me for raising a controversy that has led some to think we Ukrainians are divided.

Please educate me. Why is the Synod called "Zamoysky" and the place where it was held "Zamosc?"

I will be quiet, listen and will accept as I am told.

Alex

We're not divided, Alex...what other group of people can have a knock down, drag-out, rock-em-sock-em amongst themselves at night and the next morning embrace in the triple kiss with all forgotten or at least relegated to the subject of some really bad future jokes... bartender, another round of horilka here for all of my Ukie brothers... smile

Dear Diak,

You're on, Big Guy!

Now that I come to think of it, isn't Joe Thur the one who raised the controversy about the Anaphora? smile

And he has the gall to . . . smile

(Have a nice day, Joe!)

I realize this is an old thread. It had asked for the text of the Synod of Zamosc which I had been searching for as well. I just found the complete text of the Synod of Zamosc (1720) online:

Synod of Zamosc from Google Books

The text is in Latin. I've not seen this particular edition noted before. I don't know how long it has been up. I thought it might be of some interest to researchers.

The official decrees of the Synod are also available in a bilingual publication (Latin - Ukrainian):
Провінційний Синод у Замослі 1720 р.Б. // Постанови.
Івано-Франківськ: Нова Зоря, 2006.
переклад з латини о. д-ра Івана Козовина

Available at least in the UKU library in L'viv!
