Please pray for Opal Regina, a distant "cousin-in-law" in her 80's who has been suffering with excruciating back pain for about a year. Her family tells me that she has stopped eating and drinking this evening...hospice nurses call that state "actively dying".
Saddest of all, her family never became formal members of any congregation after they moved to this community. Her son tells me that I am the closest clergy they have; mostly through reading my parish newsletters and web pages. So I may have my own challenges in the days ahead.
O Lord, support us all the day long of this troubled life, until the shadows lengthen and the evening comes and the busy world is hushed, the fever of life is over and our work is done. Then, Lord, in your mercy, grant us a safe lodging, and a holy rest, and peace at the last, through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.

Prayers for the Lord's handmaiden, Opal, that the Lord forgive her sins, allow her to repose without suffering, accept her into His kingdom, and that her memory be eternal.

That's exactly what happened with my aunt Vera-Earlene last July - may Opal find herself escorted by angels into the presence of the living God, Who wipes all tears from our eyes and grants eternal life and radiant resurrection.

May Opal's memory be eternal and may her husband, John, and all of her family be comforted in the hope of being reunited in the hereafter.
