Thanks so much for your advice, Pani Rose!

I actually don't work in the ER, I'm an EMT-Basic and work on the ambulance. And I do LOVE people. So much of what I've learned already has enriched my work and made me, I believe, a better care provider to my patients, and a better partner on my crew.

Three decades ago that was me, tying down the night shift of a medium sized city's ambulance service while in my first year of Seminary.

Three-fold Kyries were the best way to tame the adrenaline surge going to rough calls and the best way to pray for patients after departing the ER for the station.

Thanks for the advice! It's so hard to leave them, sometimes. You know how it is... We spend such a brief time with our patients, share intimate and intense experiences, and then they're just GONE. Now that I'm studying to be a medic, I'm caring for more critical patients, which only intensifies the experience. Wouldn't have it any other way!
