sielos ilgesys Member Registered: 05/07/09 Posts: 1219 Loc: Texas/USA	The one upbeat thing I can think of when it comes to Comrade Vladimir Vladimirovich is that when spelled in French-language texts, in order to maintain an approximation of the Russian pronunciation of his last name, it's spelled "Poutine". What precisely, besides short slogans, do the reformers want? What precisely, has Putin done or not done to aid in the situation? Is he as repressive as his detractors suggest? By comparing his reign vaguely to the Romanov's is the author being insightful or obscurantist?

Both are ordained to help the people. Why shouldn't Putin and the Church work together? Second, if he really means that such cooperation compromises the Church I'm not sure he's proven his case.

As to compromise, have you seen the wristwatch? That is a symbolic counter witness to the Gospel, wealth and power supporting one another.
